A Sligo Fine Gael Councillor and general election candidate says county councils must examine how a new commercial rates system could lower costs for childcare providers and parents.
Cllr Sinead Maguire says high commercial rates faced by creche-owners is one of the factors driving up costs.
But she says there is now ‘a golden opportunity’ to do something to help those businesses and hard-working families and parents who need affordable childcare.
