That’s according to details released under the Freedom of Information Act.

The highest number of allegation received by GSOC in the north west was from the Donegal Region where, 28 were lodged.

The Sligo Leitrim region had just two less with 26.

In total, 957 complaints were made against officers throughout the country so far this year – those complaints contained 1,448 allegations.

The allegations centre on issues such as theft, fraud, sexual offences and criminal damage.

North West spokesperson for the Garda Representative Association, Ray Wims says the number of complaints in the Sligo Leitrim Division is low in comparison to the rest of the country.

Garda Wimes says when the figures are examined, only 2 % needed further action.
