MacSharry calls for return to mediation in Ryanair pilots’ dispute

Sligo/Leitrim TD and Fianna Fail spokesman on Transport Marc MacSharry is calling on both sides in the Ryanair pilots dispute to return to mediation.

It’s as Irish holiday-makers face travel disruption next week, with the pilots going on strike for two days.

Talks between Ryanair and the Irish Airline Pilots Association broke down yesterday.

Ryanair’s directly employed pilots will begin a 48-hour strike this day next week.

Eddie Wilson from the airline is accusing union representatives of ‘extraordinary behaviour’ after they pulled out of talks:

Meanwhile, Bernard Harbour is from the Forsa trade union, which includes the Irish Airline Pilots Association.

He says Ryanair offered no resolution to the dispute during yesterday’s talks:

Deputy MacSharry says the dispute is coming at a bad time, coinciding with the end of the busy tourism season.
