In this week’s Arts House on Ocean Fm: We hear about a new book by Fergus O Ferrall, whose ancestor John Ferrall was master of Sligo workhouse from 1852 to 1866.

Donal MacPolin tells us about his exhibition of watercolours and illustrations entitled Traditional Boats of Ireland that’s running in Donegal County Museum in Letterkenny.

We hear about an exhibition entitled ‘Nora Niland: Portrait of a Collector’ that’s running in The Model in Sligo. Exhibition curator Daniel McDonald tells us about the late Nora Niland and her remarkable contribution to art in Sligo.


Nina Oram talks about her first book, entitled The Joining, in her young adult fantasy trilogy that will be called The Carrowkeel Series, all inspired by Connacht’s ancient history and the Sligo landscape.


And we return to The Model in Sligo where artist Barry McHugh will be talking to artists Heidi Wickham and Emma Stroude for an Artists in Conversation event on August 17th
