A general election candidate in the Sligo Leitrim constituency says young medical professionals returning home are finding it difficult obtain work in their profession due to unnecessary administration delays.
Fianna Fail’s Shane Ellis says the system in place is not working and that it needs to be streamlined.
He says he knows of people returning who are forced to wait 3-6 months for their application to be processed, and as a result many have no option but to turn to social welfare.
Speaking to Ocean FM, Mr. Ellis says they are being put through unnecessary stress.
