Mixed local response to beef funding

The 100 million euro funding for beef farmers which announced earlier today, has been described as not doing enough to help struggling beef farmers in the north west who are most vulnerable to the fallout from Brexit.

That’s according to the President of the IFA Joe Healy.

The Government are claiming that the “Beef Exceptional Aid Measure” will provide financial aid to Irish beef farmers most affected by market.

Speaking earlier to Ocean FM News the President of the IFA says today’s announcement only differs slightly from a previous announcement with minor alterations made to provide Dairy Farmers with part of the funding.

Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue is the FF Spokesperson on Agriculture

He has welcomed today’s announcement, however he also has some concerns as regards what the uptake of the scheme will be.
