Local farmers step up protests against cattle cull



Farmers from the north west that are part of the beef plan movement are protesting today against plans to reduce the national herd.

The Climate change committee have recommended cutting cattle numbers by 53% to reduce Gas emissions.

 

Members of the Beef Plan Movement are refusing to trade today as a mark of protest and are also staging a number of protests at meat factories.

 

Gerry Pilkington is the Chairman of the Sligo Beef Plan movement, from the picket line in Ballyhaunis he earlier spoke to Ocean FM and outlined why they have staged this protest.
