Funding boost for north west beef farmers

There is good news for beef farmers across the north west this morning following the announcement from the Minister for Agriculture of a new 100 million euro funding for farmers involved in the sector.

The Beef Exceptional Aid Measure will provide financial aid to Irish beef farmers most affected by market volatility and uncertainty arising out of Brexit.  With beef farming dominating the local agricultural sector in the counties of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal the news is expected to be welcomed by local farmers.

The news scheme will be funded by a combination of EU exceptional aid and Exchequer support.

Agriculture Minister Michael Creed says the new funding will bring relief to beef farmers.
