Sligo FG general election candidate hits out at Mercosur trade deal

The agreement by the EU to allow for the importation of 100,000 tone’s of beef from South America through the Mercosur trade deal presents a serious threat to the livelihoods of beef farmers across the north west.

That’s according to Sligo County Councillor and Fine Gael General Election candidate Sinead Maguire.

Councillor Maguire says the new deal will have a negative impact on the environment and will hit the incomes of beef producing farmers in the north west.
