€900,000 allocated for disabled person grants across the north west



Almost €900,000 in funding has been allocated for Disabled Persons Grant Scheme and the Improvement Works Scheme in the north west region.

Donegal has received the highest amount of funding at €400,000 – this is followed by Sligo which will gain€325,000 and Leitrim which is set to benefit from €175,000.

The Disabled Person Grant Scheme provides funding for extensions and adaptations to existing social housing for older people and people with a disability.

While the Works in Lieu of Social Housing Scheme allows local authorities to improve or extend privately owned accommodation, where the applicant has been approved for social housing.

Independent Sligo Cllr Marie Casserly says people will be able to apply for the schemes shortly.
