Fianna Fail move to tackle rising insurance costs

Calls are being made on the government to progress the Civil Liability and Courts Bill 2019 introduced to tackle rising insurance costs.

The Oireachtas Business Committee has allowed the Bill, which was introduced by Fianna Fáil to skip pre-legislative scrutiny, and as a result the Bill will now go straight to Committee Stage in the Dáil.

With insurance fraud is a major problem in the North West which is pushing up the cost of insurance for everyone in the area, Sligo Leitrim TD Marc McSharry says the legislation should be enacted as soon as possible.
