Sligo famine victims to be buried in Canada following identification of remains

The bodies of Irish famine victims found on a beach in Canada in recent years are now to be buried in Canada, following confirmation by scientists of who they were. The remains of 21 people were among those who had been on board the Carricks ship which departed Sligo Port in 1847, and which sank during its journey. Joe McGowan of the County Sligo Famine Commemoration Committee takes up the story
