Almost 2,500 carers in Sligo and Leitrim are set to benefit from the Carer’s Support Grant.
In total 1,645 carers in Sligo and 850 in Leitrim can now receive the grants.
The Carer’s Support Grant is worth €1,700 and is available to all carers providing full-time care to an older person or a person with a disability, regardless of their means or social insurance contributions.
Carers who are providing care for two or more people will receive a grant in respect of each person being cared for.
Sligo Leitrim Fine Gael Senator Frank Feighan is encouraging people to apply for the grant.
