Cllr Tom MacSharry is the new cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council.
The Fianna Fail cllr was chosen unanimously with no note at his morning’s meeting of Sligo County Council which is the first since the local elections.
He was proposed by his party colleagues by Cllr Rosealeen O’Grady and seconded by Cllr Paul Taylor.
Solidarity People Before Profit Cllr Gino O’ Boyle was selected as the leas-cathaoirleach – he was proposed by Independent Cllr Declan Bree and seconded by Sinn Fein Cllr Thomas Healy.
Fine Gael cllr and General Elelction candidate Sinead Maguire was not presented when this morning’s selection was taking place.
