Man appears in court in connection with crash at Rory Gallagher Festival

A man in his 30s arrested for dangerous driving in Ballyshannon has appeared in court in Carrick on Shannon as a result of a single-vehicle crash that occurred during the Rory Gallagher International Festival in the town at the weekend.

The vehicle struck the roundabout in the Carrickboy area, at the entrance to Ballyshannon, crossed the road and then struck a barrier just before 11pm.

The vehicle had earlier gone towards Finner before making a U-turn and coming back toward Ballyshannon, which was crowded with festival goers at the time.

Nobody was injured as Gardai had cleared people off a bridge and street in the area before the car arrived.

In addition to the man arrested, a woman was also apprehended for Public order offences.
