Sligo’s Cliona Walsh serves her way to Youth Olympics



Sligo tennis teenager Cliona Walsh has secured a place on the Ireland team for the European Youth Olympics in Azerbaijan in July.

Cliona, who’s fifteen, and a junior cert student in the Ursuline College, beat Lisa Ryan from Malahide in the play-off decider 6-4 6-3 in Dublin – to clinch the sole female tennis place on the Irish team.

She trains in Sligo tennis club and Castlebar tennis club.

The European Youth Olympics festival takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan from July 21st-28th.
