Sligo-Dublin rail line blocked after train hits cattle near Kilcock

Services on the rail line between Sligo and Dublin are being delayed because of a collision with cattle near Kilcock.

The incident does not involve a Sligo train but rather a special train travelling between Connolly Station and Mullingar.

However, the single track line is blocked at the location as veterinary staff are awaited.

It’s understood a cow is badly injured and will have to be euthanised.

Irish Rail spokesman Barry Kenny spoke to Ocean FM’s Harry Keaney in the past half hour.
