Sligo Councillor says there needs to be more competition in the beef market

Unless there is competition in the beef market, farmers won’t get a fair price for their products.

That’s the view of Independent Counicllor and local election candidate in the Ballymote/Tubbercurry area, Michael Clarke.

Mr. Clarke claims that business man Larry Goodman dominance in the beef trade impacts on the prices farmers receive from meat factories for their animals.

He says unless their is government intervention, farmers will not get a fair price for their offal.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Cllr. Clarke says their needs to be competition in the market.
