Easkey protest planned outside council HQ for tomorrow, Wednesday, morning

People from the west Sligo village of Easkey will be protesting outside the offices of Sligo County Council tomorrow morning.

They will be highlighting their concerns over what they claim is the ‘destruction’ of a special area of conservation in the village as well as alleged pollution of a river.

It’s the second time such a protest by people from Easkey has taken place outside the council offices; in April about 20 people were took part in a protest.

Tomorrow’s protest, from about 8:30am to 10:30am, will coincide with what will be the last council meeting before the coming local elections.

Carmel Gordon has been telling Ocean FM the reasons for the protests.
