Gardaí in the north west region are carrying out a number of checkpoints under the ‘Bank Holiday Lifesaver Road Safety Campaign.’
A driver tested positive for cannabis in the North Sligo area late last night and was subsequently arrested and detained at Ballymote Garda Station.
Gardaí reiterate that it is never OK to drink or drug drive.
Checkpoints will be continuing across the region this Bank Holiday weekend.
