Connecting with Sligo people everywhere – diaspora strategy to be launched today



Sligo County Council will launch a new five-year strategy today, Wednesday, aimed at fostering and promoting links with those connected to the county throughout the world.

The launch of the County Sligo Diaspora Strategy will be culmination of about 18 months of work and planning.

Council Cathaoirleach Martin Baker will launch the strategy in City Hall in Sligo on Wednesday at 4pm.

It will include a link-in to the Sligo Business Network in London.

The aims of the strategy are to promote tourism, job creation, investment and other links, including in the areas of the arts, music and culture.

Sligo County Council Director of Services Dorothy Clarke says it’s all about connecting with the wider Sligo family throughout the world.
