Competition aimed at new and early start businesses seeks applicants from the North West

A competition aimed at early and new businesses is seeking applicants from Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

InterTradeIreland’s Seedcorn Investor Readiness Competition is offering a total of €280,000 to help businesses help get going, €100,000 of which goes to the winner.

The event has been run each year since it’s inception in 2003 with businesses in the North West doing well, such as Cerebreon Technologies winning the ‘New Start’ overall prize in 2017.

Over €4.5m has so far been awarded to various enterprises over the years with Jennifer McMahon, a judge in 2018, saying that Seedcorn is ‘an excellent all-island initiative which helps entrepreneurs and exciting new innovators to succeed.’

Shane O’Hanlon, Funding for Growth manager with InterTradeIreland says it can really help businesses.

The programme also offers valuable advice from industry professionals and there will be two workshops coming up in Sligo and Donegal.

Both are on Thursday the 9th of May; at 9.30am in the Innovation Centre, IT Sligo and in Letterkenny IT at 1pm.
