An additional 12 paramedic posts have been allocated to the north west region.
It’s understood six of the posts will be based in Sligo and six to Donegal.
As a result, additional Emergency Ambulance day time hours will be operating out of the Sligo ambulance Base.
The posts in Donegal will also allow for additional Emergency Ambulance day time hours in the Inishowen Peninsula.
Local Election candidate and Independent Cllr Marie Casserly says the additional services will be in place in Donegal by the end of the month while they are due to be in place in Sligo by the third quarter of this year.
