A grave problem in Sligo has been resolved.
Concern arose over the layout of grave spaces in a proposed new extension to Sligo cemetery.
It was claimed that it would result in people being buried in a north/south position rather than east/west, which is custom and tradition from ancient times.
But this week’s meeting of Sligo Municipal District councillors were told there was a redesign of that section of the cemetery and the graves would not be positioned east/west.
