There are calls for the restoration of a Bus Eireann service in Sligo that could create the first Park and Ride facility in the county.
A number of public representatives and election candidates have been seeking the return of the Sligo town bus service between Carraroe Community Centre and Sligo town centre.
At yesterday’s meeting of councillors from the Sligo Municipal District, Fianna Fail Councillor and election candidate Seamus Kilgannon proposed that the council call on the National Transport Authority and Bus Eireann to restore service on the route.
He said allowing people coming into Sligo to park their vehicles at Carraroe and take the bus into town would have many benefits.
