There are concerns over the cuts to the allocation in funding for elderly and disability grants in Sligo.
Each year the local authority receives an allocation from central government which allows for small or minor repairs to carried out on the homes of the elderly or for people with disabilities.
It’s understood Sligo County Council increased the amount of funding set aside for the grants in its budget for 2019 however this increase has not been matched by the government.
Ballymote Fianna Fáil Councillor and local election candidate Keith Henry says it is extremely disappointing that some people will now have to wait until 2020 for their grants to be approved.
