Sligo Drumcliffe Councillors fail to support ” no posters motion”

Councillors decided not to support a motion for all candidates in the Sligo Drumcliffe Electoral area to sign-up to a poster free campaign for the local elections in May.

The proposal was put forward by Independent Cllr and local election candidate Marie Casserly who said councillors should lead by example and highlighted the need to protect the environment.

Despite this councillors felt that it wasn’t fair to ask everyone to adopt the no poster approach as new candidates would not be as well-known as sitting councillors and some candidates may already have their posters ordered.

Cllr Casserly agreed to withdraw the motion but said if re-elected it would be something she would be revisiting in future.
