A Sligo Sinn Fein councillor says he is astounded there are so few derelict buildings recorded by Sligo County Council on its register.
At present the local authority says there are fewer than 20 buildings noted on the Derelict Sites Register in the county.
Local election candidate Cllr Chris MacManus feels this number should be much higher while Sligo County Council says the low number is due to a lack of resources and staffing.
Cllr MacManus says these sites attract anti-social behaviour and are dispiriting to communities.
