Local Hospital support staff to ballot for strike

Over 500 hospital support staff across the north west region will ballot for strike action next month in a dispute over pay.

The issue centres on ‘The Support Staff Job Evaluation’ scheme which looks at certain roles and establishes whether pay rises is warranted.

The scheme was agreed in 2015 under the Lansdowne Road Agreement however SIPTU has now accused the government of frustrating the process and says members have been under paid for years.

Health Division Organiser with Siptu in Donegal, Ciaran Sheridan says members are not happy with current pay levels.
