€12m investment in Donegal water mains

Irish Water is investing €12 million in upgrading about 40km of old water mains across County Donegal.

The works, which started last September, will be finished by the end of this year.

The purpose of these works is to reduce bursts and the loss of clean drinking water through leaks.

Progress to date includes the installation of the 2.4km of water mains, improving service connections and replacing roads.

Works are ongoing at Ballybofey South Backline.

Works will start in Bundoran West at the end of April and in Corker and Ballyshannon in May.

Remaining schemes currently at design stage include Abbeylands, Ballyshannon which, it’s envisaged, will start this summer.

Traffic management will be in operation at all sites during the works and residents and businesses in the affected areas will be notified.
