The Yeats Building in Sligo will be the venue for an event this evening to encourage more women to get involved in local and national politics.
It’s the second event of it’s kind in the north west, the previous 50/50 event having been held in The Model in November,
This evening’s event begins at 7pm with admission €5.
Guest speaker will be former RTÉ political correspondent Martina Fitzgerald, who will talk about her book, ‘Madam Politician, the women at the table of Irish political power.’
Local and general election candidate Sinead Maguire says Ireland has a low number of women in politics compared to other counties.
