Leitrim councillor calls for cyclists & pedestrians to use high visibility clothing

Calls were made at a Leitrim County Council meeting this week for legislation to be introduced to make it compulsory for cyclists and pedestrians to wear  high visibility clothing while on the roads.

Councillor Frank Dolan tabled the motion at this week’s meeting of the local authority which took place in Carrick-on-Shannon.

The Fine Gael Councillor’s motion also included that “single file cycling” would be made mandatory on rural roads.

Speaking earlier to Ocean FM, the Newtownmanor based councillor outlined that there are still some cyclists and pedestrians failing to have sufficient high visibility clothing and as a result are endangering their safety.
