First Engineering Fair in the North West taking place this weekend



The first Engineering Fair in the North West is being held this weekend.

It’s taking place on Sunday March 3rd from 12pm to 5pm at IT Sligo.

Engineers Week is taking place across the country from Saturday March 2nd and runs until Friday March 8th.

The week long event showcases different activities and demonstrations to encourage an interest in young people to look at engineering as a potential career path.

A number of events are taking place including the first Engineering Fair in the North West.

The fair in IT Sligo is being run in conjunction with Abbott’s with a number of events taking place;

‘Dr Megaphone’, musician Alan McClure and ‘Sandy the Science Boy’ will bring people through 300 years of scientific and engineering discoveries in Ireland, ‘Engineering for Life’ shows how engineering affects our lives on a daily basis, Niamh Shaw, who is on a mission to get to space, will talk about her adventure so far and her work with the European Space Agency, Science Foundation Ireland will demonstrate how 3D printing works, while visitors will also be able greeted by a robot and get to see the world famous Delorean car.
