Sligo councillor wants monument along N4 to commemorate composers

A Sligo councillor is calling for a monument to be erected on the new N4 route between Collooney and Castlebaldwin to commemorate two once-famous but now-forgotten composers.

The Connellan brothers, Thomas and Laurence, were harpists and composers who were born in Cloonamahon.

Fianna Fail Councillor and history teacher Keith Henry says people may be more familiar than they think with the brothers’ compositions.
