A Sligo/Leitrim TD says he has had dozen of complaints from sick and vulnerable people whose illness benefit payments have been disrupted.
Fianna Fail Deputy Eamon Scanlon says many depend on this money.
However, he added that irregularity and disruption of payments, and the uncertainty and anxiety that causes, cannot go on.
Deputy Scanlon is now calling on the Minister for Social Protection to intervene.
