Weather hits weekend sporting fixtures



The weather has forced the postponement of a number of local sporting fixtures this weekend.

Saturday’s ladies national football league Division 3 match between Sligo and Meath, scheduled for Cloonacool  was called off because of a frozen pitch. The game has been refixed for the weekend of Feb 16/17th.

St Attracta’s of Tubbercurry’s refixed Connacht Colleges senior ‘A’ championship quarter-final against St Jarlath’s of Tuam, which had been refixed for the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan, was also postponed because of the weather.

Leitrim ladies gaelic footballers Division 4 match against Antrim in Belfast on Sunday is also OFF as mark of respect to Leitrim footballer Louise Guckian, whose father Tom passed away this week.

In hurling, Donegal’s Division 2B match against Derry will now be played in Ballinascreen on Sunday at 2:30pm. The Leitrim v Sligo Division 3B game goes ahead on Sunday in Carrick-on-Shannon at 2pm.
