Sinn Fein’s Matt Carthy wants to continue as a member of the European Parliament for the Midlands North West Constituency.
He will seek his party’s nomination at a selection convention this Sunday in Cavan to choose candidates to run in the Europeal Parliament elections in May.
There had been speculation that Carthy might run for the Dail.
But, speaking to Ocean FM News, he said there is no indication right now when a general election will take place.
