Proposed Uber-style taxi could benefit elderly in north west

A not-for-profit organisation that works for the social inclusion of older people in rural areas says a proposed new Uber-style transport system would be of major benefit to areas in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

The call for the new transport service has come from Minister of State Jim Daly, who says it’s not only about drink-driving.

The organisation Third Age, which has a confidential phone line and visiting service for lonely elderly people, is supporting the idea.

Anne Dempsey, of Third Age, has been telling Ocean FM News why she thinks it would be particularly beneficial to people in rural areas in the north west.
