New political party confirms candidate for local elections

A group in the north west is hoping to complete the registration of its new political party later this week.

The Christian Democratic Party has been formed in the aftermath of abortion legislation having been introduced.

The new party aims to represent those who voted against the legislation and now feel disenfranchised when it comes to political representation.

Sean Wynne, director elections for the party, will seek a seat on Leitrim County Council in the Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District in this year’s local elections.

Party representatives have confirmed to Ocean FM News that they will not be running any candidates in municipal districts where the former Sinn Fein TD Peadar Toibin will be putting candidates forward.
