Fire breaks out in hotel earmarked for asylum accommodation



Emergency services were called to the scene of a fire at the Shannon West Hotel on the Leitrim side of Roosky yesterday evening.

The building was earmarked to accommodate upto 80 asylum seekers.

It happened at around 8pm where the Fire Service were immediately called.

The hotel suffered extensive smoke damage and it’s reported that there was a person working inside at the time of the fire.

Nobody was injured in the incident and Gardaí will be carrying out their investigations later today.

This is the second such incident following the fire in Moville Co. Donegal in November 2018
