Donegal TD and Minister for Education Joe McHugh says he is delighted with the response to a public consultation into exemptions for students studying Irish.
Over 2 thousand people have had their say on a review into exemptions for students studying the subject.
The consultation is seeking views on the way students can apply to get out of doing the subject.
The closing date for submissions has now been extended until Friday the 18th of January.
Minister McHugh says there has been a huge show of interest.
