Principal of south Sligo school says no cause for concern following incident

The principal of a south Sligo secondary school says there is no cause for concern following an incident at the school last month.

Principal of St Attracta’s Secondary school in Tubbercurry, David McEvoy, says an investigation as been carried out and the issue is now closed.

Therese Madden Reports:

In a statement released to Ocean FM news today, Mr McEvoy, says an issue of concern, in relation to comments made by a student, was brought to the attention of school management in St. Attracta’s Community School on November 22nd last.

He says the details of this matter were communicated to the appropriate authorities without delay and following a full and thorough investigation by the school and the appropriate authorities it was established that there was no cause for concern.

He says, on this reassurance the school continued to operate as usual.

Mr McEvoy added the appropriate steps were taken and the matter was dealt with internally.

He says the issue is now closed and the school Board of Management wishes to assure staff parents and students that their safety and welfare is, as always, to the fore.
