Fianna Fail selects five local election candidates in Sligo municipal district area



The Fianna Fail party has decided to run five local election candidates next year in Sligo municipal district.

The 10-seat area stretches from Ballisodare to Bunduff Bridge in north Sligo.

At a selection convention last night, it was decided to nominate outgoing councillors Rosaleen O Grady ands Tom MacSharry from the Sligo/Strandhill area.

And it was agreed to run three candidates from the Sligo/Drumcliffe area.

They are outgoing councillor Seamus Kilgannon, Grange businessman and former local election candiate Donal Gilroy and Colm McGurran, from Ballisodare, who runs McGurran Construction.

It had initially been thought that two candidates would have been selected from each area but Sligo Fianna Fail Comhairle Dail Ceanntair chairperson Marion Moore has been telling Ocean FM News why it was agreed to run three candidates in the Sligo/Drumcliffe area:
