Non-refundable deposits for restaurant no-shows a necessary move claims Sligo business owner

The proprietor of Coach Lane Restaurant and Donaghy’s pub in Sligo, Andy Donaghy, has supported moves by the Restaurants Association of Ireland to introduce non-refundable deposits for those who book tables at restaurants and don’t show up. The move has been criticised by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, but Mr Donaghy insists no-shows are a real problem for those in the business
