Progress in effort to deal with dangerous junctions on N4

The Minister for Transport has confirmed that Roscommon County Council is to monitor the traffic flow in and around the Cootehall and Croghan junctions on the N4 between Boyle and Carrick on Shannon.

A public meeting was held earlier this month which 150 attended.

More than 750 people signed a petition highlighting the dangers of the area.

Fine Gael Senator Frank Feighan was given confirmation by Minister of State Michael Griffin that the Department of Transport will consider giving funding for any additional safety measure the council deem necessary.

Senator Feighan says there will be a further meeting taking place next week at which Transport Infrastructure Ireland will meet members of the community.
