Leitrim County Council have reduced the rates write off on vacant commercial buildings from 100% to 75%.
The decision was taken at yesterday’s annual budget meeting of Leitrim County Council which took place in Carrick-on-Shannon.
With Leitrim having a vacancy level of 15.6% the CEO of Leitrim County Council, Lar Power says measures have been taken to address this figure which is well above the national average.
Mr Power also feels that vacant commercial premises throughout the County are also negatively impacting other business in Leitrim.
