A Sligo/Leitrim TD is calling for recently announced home-care packages for older people to be made available as soon as possible.
The HSE now says 550 additional home care packages, aids, appliances and transitional care are among measures it is implementing to support older people’s move from hospital care before Christmas and into the New Year.
It’s been claimed that in some areas, people are waiting months for home care supports, with more than 200 aged over 65 waiting up to and over a year in Donegal.
Home care packages may include helping people get in and out of bed, dressing and undressing, as well as personal care and hygiene needs.
