McHugh under fire from Irish language schools

The Minister for Education Joe McHugh has come in for criticism from the Chonrad na Gaeilge movement.

The Irish language organisation that is responsible for the promotion of the language and the Irish culture is accusing the government of not providing enough Irish medium-language schools.

Such schools currently account for 8% of all schools in the Republic of Ireland; however, an ESRI report claims that there is a demand from 23% of all parents to avail of them.

Julian De Spainn is secretary of Chonrad na Gaeilge, he’s urging Minister McHugh to take action now.
