Decision to close St Joseph’s Hospital in Stranorlar rescinded

There is good news for St Joseph’s Hospital in Stranorlar with commitments given that 65 beds are to be maintained at the hospital.

Following a meeting with Minister of State at the Department of Health Jim Daly in the Dail yesterday a delegation from the Save Our St Joseph’s Hospital Action Group was given a commitment that the decision to close the hospital has now been rescinded.

A new plan is to be drawn up at the beginning of next year, which would see 65 beds maintained at the hospital.

Fr John Joe Duffy, Chairman of the Group has cautiously welcomed the news and says both they and Donegal members of the Oireachtas will make sure the commitment given yesterday is honoured.
