Minister ‘absolutely confident’ Sligo County Council can provide housing for all on its waiting list



A government minister says he’s confident that Sligo County Council can provide housing for all the people on its waiting list in the next two to three years.

When it comes to the numbers on the housing list in Sligo, there are different figures put forward.

In an interview with Ocean FM News when he was in Sligo, Minister English said it was 420, down from 660 a few years ago.

However, a number of councillors say it’s around 1,000 to 1,200 when people on schemes such as the Housing Assistance Payment, or HAP, are taken into account.

Whatever the figure, the minister says he is confident the council can cater for all on the housing list:
